Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry
If you’ve heard of laughing gas, you might be surprised to learn it also has a soothing effect. Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is administered through a mask worn over the nose and works instantly to help you relax in the dental chair. The effects of the gas wear off just as quickly once the mask is removed.
Oral Sedation
If you suffer from severe dental anxiety, you might like to try oral sedation. This form of sedation is recommended to be taken an hour before your visit for optimal effect. As well as promoting a sense of deep relaxation, oral sedation also has an amnesiac effect, allowing you to forget any uncomfortable details of your treatment. You´ll receive detailed instructions from your dentist if you decide this option is for you.
