General Dentistry in Saint John
At Avenue Dental, we offer general dentistry procedures to maintain and improve the health of your teeth and gums. Our services include routine check-ups, dental hygiene procedures and other essential treatments to restore the health of your teeth.
Oral Exams & New Patient Exams
At Avenue Dental, we have been welcoming patients to our practice for over 30 years and invite you and your family to join us. We recommend routine dental exams at least once a year so your dentist can assess the health of your teeth and treat dental problems as and when they occur.
Dental Hygiene Appointments
When food particles become trapped between your teeth and gums, they create plaque, which hardens into tartar and affects the integrity of your teeth. Dental hygiene is essential for the health of your teeth and gums, and we recommend visiting your dental hygienist at least once a year for a professional teeth cleaning.
Root Canals
If you feel any pain or discomfort in your teeth, you may have a tooth infection. A tooth infection occurs when bacteria in the mouth penetrate the hard surface of the tooth and infiltrate the dental pulp. A root canal is a routine dental procedure to treat an infected tooth and bring it back to health.
Dental Sealants
When food particles become trapped in the grooves of the teeth, this can lead to the formation of harmful bacteria and eventually cause decay. Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating that is painted onto the chewing surface of the teeth. These sealants provide an extra layer of protection against decay and are recommended for children and adults to preserve their adult teeth.
Teeth Extractions
At Avenue Dental, we always prioritize maintaining your natural teeth. However, there are times when your natural teeth can’t be saved, and an extraction may be necessary.
Dental X-Rays
While a thorough visual assessment is essential to determine the health of the teeth and gums, dental X-rays are also useful to detect any issues within the teeth and below the gum line. Digital X-rays are quick and easy to administer, with the images created in a matter of minutes so your dentist can discuss the results with you.
Oral Cancer Screening
During your routine check-up, your dentist will screen for oral cancer by carefully examining your oral cavity. They will visually assess for discolouration in the mouth tissues and check for abnormal growth. They will also feel the mouth tissues to check for any lumps that may not be visible during the visual check-up.
